Over the summer I ran into an old friend. It was wonderful to see her! I felt like the Grinch when his heart gets bigger at the end of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' !
She is super busy and always traveling sharing her creative spirit teaching classes all around the USA, Europe and even cruise ships!
Last night though she made the time to have dinner with me at a local Italian restaurant. We chatted, ate and chatted for 2.5 hours catching up!! It was so good. My face hurt from smiling and giggling so much!!! : )
So glad that we have reconnected!! We drifted apart about 3 years ago. My fault. I am too sensitive, feelings get hurt and then I just put up a barrier. Plus the green eyed monster isn't pretty sometimes and I don't like when I get that way at all !
Hey, at least I know I am that way and can admit mistakes, even if it takes a little while.
I am still feeling the happy glow a full day later!
Guess what?! I'm going to write about scrapbooking! Ok, lets not get carried away....it's actually scrapbooking shopping! HA! : )
Everyone is blogging these days, even scrapbook stores. So, every once in a while I check out the blog of a store that is 40 minutes away in North Attleboro. This week they received in a travel line by Making Memories called Great Escape. The stuff is so VERY cute and I had to have it!! Good thing the display was at the front of the store so I didn't have far to look before loading up!
I LOVE it all and can't wait to use it. I have a pile of Aruba photos from April that would be perfect with these goodies!
Ok, something else happened at the store. As I was going in someone I knew was coming out. She used to teach amazing creative scrapbooking classes at a store close to me before it closed. She is SUPER talented and always had the best projects and kept me (and lots of others) inspired to be creative. I MISS those classes and her enthusiasm. She sometimes teaches at the store I visited so her projects are highlighted on their blog and her work is still amazing.
I think this was only the 2nd time I have seen her since 2006. The other time was just a 'hello' but today was NICE! It was like slow motion I just wanted to hug her, then paused, then hugged her anyway! She told me what her sons were up to and she asked about my family. She looks SO happy and I know she is doing well with her creative designs.
I emailed this afternoon to tell her how nice it was to see her and she has already replied!! She is a better person than me and I am glad!
I ruined a good friendship there three years ago. I am oversensitive, stubborn and not very forgiving. Plus I have a hard time admitting when I am wrong.
It was such a good feeling though after seeing her. Peace, no more bad feelings, just happiness.
I got my creative vibe on tonight!! YAY!! OK, so it wasn't scrapbooking but making cards counts as being creative right?! : ) St Patricks Day is almost here so I thought I should make a few cards! It's funny how quickly the supplies pile up! (I already had all of it in my stash!)
I have to say they came out very cute! Hopefully I will get to be creative again this week! : )
Today I took a ride to Cape Cod with my Mom and brother Joe. It didn't look like it was going to be a prime sun worshipping day here so it worked out well.
As we got closer to the Cape there were WAY less clouds! I love driving over the Sagamore Bridge and usually love to take photos too. BUT today, since I was driving and since Mom was in the car I passed the camera off to Joe!
Our first stop was South Yarmouth for some yummy seafood! Mom and I both had lobsters and Joe had fried clams. Well, Joe almost had lobster too. (except he doesn't like it!) The waiter brought out three lobster kits and then 3 boiled lobsters and no clams for Joe. Ooops!
Next stop was Seashell Gardens in Dennis. Mom loves garden shops and this one is beautiful ! We came out empty handed though. I think we were overwhelmed by all the choices, plus it was getting HOT!
Then we headed back to Hyannis. There was way to much traffic for a Thursday! It's like everybody was on vacation. Joe went into Newbury Comics and Mom and I checked out HomeGoods. Joe had better shopping luck than us! : )
Last stop was Main Street Hyannis. I visited Colorful Creations Scrapbooking Store. I don't think I have been there since last summer. The store is beautiful and so much nicer than their old location! I must be scrapbooking shopped out though because I only spent under $10. Hmmmmmm!
We were home by 4:00 and after a little bit I took a siesta. Ahhhhhh!
Great day! : )
Today Deb and I had planned a 'quick' visit to Right at Home Scrapbooking to check out some of the latest and greatest products. If we left at 9am we figured we'd be home before noon most definately. (ha ha!) I got home after 4:00 but we had a blast!
Before we made it to RAH we checked out a huge Homegoods/TJ Maxx store for Halloween mugs for Boo. Both Deb and Boo are huge fans of Halloween and have already started getting prepared for it this year!
The last time I was at RAH was last year. The store is still amazing and they have plenty of new product! My two favorite travel lines right now are the Making Memories Passport (thanks Deb!) and Teresa Collins Travelogue which we saw today in person I think for the first time. Deb helped me scoop it all up! : )
Shopping made us hungry so we went to Panera for lunch! YUM!
Our last stop was The Crop Shop to visit Dee. She was very happy to see us. The store looks GREAT and they already had a few goodies in from CHA. Looking at their blog now I see something that I didn't see in the store!! Hmmph! I want it! It's a new mini album by Creative Imaginations!
Ok, maybe I should REALLY clean out some older products this weekend before buying another thing!!! (right! LOL)
So, we had this tree that was leaning precariously towards our roof.
We all figured the next storm it would blow right over and crush us. To avoid that happening we had a tree company come out and remove it.
They did the work last Wednesday afternoon. I wasn't home to see it happen, but one of the twins took photos for me so I could see the action!
Check these guys out!!! LOL
This even looked a little bit fun!
See all the excitement I missed!! LOL
I've been tagged by Sean.
Hmmm. Going to post 8 random facts about myself. I will try:
1) I was the last one in my kindergarten class to learn how to tie my shoes. My Mom still has the gold cardboard shoe with my name on it that I finally received when I mastered the difficult task! LOL
2) Zippers and Escalators make me nervous. Zippers because I could never zip properly when I was young and always had button up coats because of it. Escalators because one time my rubber boot got caught in one at Sears. No damage to my foot but the boot was mangled.
3) I've worked for the same company for 23 years. (Whoa!!)
4) My Dad wanted to name me Deidre Ann when I was born, but my Mom named me Kathleen Elsa (her middle name too). She saved me from being a Dee Dee!!! Plus I have to very cool initials of KEG!!! : )
5) I met Anthony Edwards at the Williams Inn in Williamstown, MA when one of my friends was going to school there. He was in a play called 'Speed the Plow' at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. It was after his 'Top Gun' days...so of course the only thing I could come out with was "I cried when Goose died!" LOL
6) I have identical twin brothers. Growing up there were FIVE sets of twins on our street; including on either side of our house.
7) I am a scrapbooker and started in 2001. I love to take photos so it was easy to start!
8) I'm a huge U2 fan. I've been lucky to see them up and down the East Coast as well as in Hawaii, Ireland and England. Where will I see them next???!!!
There were so many different kinds of gorgeous flowers on display!!! Jenn gave us a tour and even showed us where her parents renewed their wedding vows on their 40th anniversary! (and we got to visit with them too before we came home!)
Both Deb and Jenn have awesome cameras! It was fun to watch them in action with their 'babies' and I can't wait to see their photos!!
Thanks girls for a FUN DAY!!!!!!
My buddy What-ever is on the West Coast at a huge scrapbooking industry event!! This is the time of year when companies showcase their new releases and Scrapbooking stores from all over the country arrive in one place to order product for their stores!
Luckily some people are updating their blogs and websites as to what goodies they have seen at the show!
I think my favorite thing I have seen online is the new Heidi Swapp! Looks like she has come out with some RATHER cool travel items! I WANT THEM ALL!!!!
