... AWESOME!
We hit the ground running on Thursday morning and didn't stop until our delayed flight got back to Boston Sunday Night... wait... make that early Monday morning.
Thursday, 7/17... Millennium Park. By far my favorite thing. I finally got to see Cloud Gate (a/k/a "the bean") and it totally made my day. The 93 hazy, hot and humid degrees didn't make a difference. The bean left Colleen, Dee and me awe struck. So freakin' cool!
We also checked out Crown Fountain... perfect for a hot day. All of Chicago must have thought so too, because this thing was PACKED!
Colleen and I decided to take our shoes off and test the water. Hey... when will I ever have another opportunity to be in Millennium Park on a hot summer day with an adventurous friend who indulges my crazy whims?
Then it was on to Archivers for some creative shopping... I know... I know. Couldn't be helped. They carry stuff you can't get here!
After a full day of sightseeing and shopping we (Dee, Colleen and I) checked into the Embassy Suites in Rosemont, cleaned up and headed over to the Wyndham Hotel for the Creative Imaginations Preview Party. Got to see Cheryl {hi Cheryl!} the uber talented Design Team Coordinator for Creative Imaginations. Go check out her stuff... you'll see what I mean.
Friday, 7/18... CHA Summer 2008 begins. Total and complete insanity, as usual. People everywhere. So much to see. It's crafting overload, but so worth the headache. Hero Arts... my first Mand-&-Take... so cute! That was the first booth I got to, and one of my favorites as usual. Went to dinner that night with the fabulous Jan (from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L), her husband and two of her counterparts. Laughed a LOT that night. So much fun!
Saturday, 7/19... CHA day 2. Crazy, crazy, crazy. Saw so many amazing new things I can't even keep them straight in my head. Made another super cute Make-&-Take at Hero Arts and wore my Making Memories apron all day in hopes of coming home with a new Slice... no dice. I remain Slice free. Maybe next time. The girls and I spent another 8 hours scouring the show for the best and brightest to bring back to the store. We found some great stuff... Creative Imaginations, Pink Paislee, Scraponizer, Magic Mesh... the list goes on and on. After the show we made reservations at Morton's the Steakhouse. Y - U - M ! Caesar salad, Filet Oscar, mashed potatoes, green beans, lyonnaise potatoes (yes... 2 kinds of potatoes!) and finished off with the most decadent chocolate souffle with creme fraiche. Heaven.
Sunday, 7/20... CHA day 3. Jam packed day. We took in as much as we could in the short amount of time we had on Sunday. Definitely not as many attendees working the floor that day. We did find my absolute favorite new product thought... the Canon Selphy ES2. I am in LOVE!!
Truly hoping The Crop Shop will carry at least a couple of these so that I can get my hands on one!! I think every scrapbooker would be ecstatic to have one.
After checking out and jamming every last inch of space in my suitcase with stuff I never thought I'd be bringing home (a Scraponizer... seriously?! Woohoo!) we checked out and headed to O'Hare International Airport for our 6pm flight... which turned out to be delayed. Stupid Boston thunderstorms! We grabbed a bite to eat at the smallest and busiest Chili's I've ever seen and hunkered down for the long wait. Saw a gorgeous sunset while waiting for JetBlue flight 922.
Almost made the 3-1/2 hour delay worth it... almost!
Can't wait for Anahiem in 2009!
I admit it... time gets away from me and before I know it, two weeks have passed and I haven't posted on poor VOX.
It's been a busy two weeks. Lots going on at work and at play.
Just got back Sunday from a busy weekend working for The Crop Shop at the Burlington, MA SDV. Exhausting. Great to see old friends and make some new ones.
I got to experience reflexology for the first time... and I'm sold 100%! Ronnie Slade is amazing. If you ever have the opportunity to have Ronnie work her magic on you... DO IT! Not only is she an unbelievably talented reflexologist, but she is a pleasure to chat with. I learned a lot from her that I will carry with me. Thank you Ronnie!
I leave with Colleen and Dee for the CHA Summer show in Chicago in just 42 hours! I am not sure what posessed us to book 7:00am flights from Boston to Chicago, but we did, and we'll be on that sunrise flight with big ol smiles on our faces. Look out Embassy Suites... here we come!
I can't wait to go. I can't wait to see Cloud Gate (a/k/a "the bean") and have some "girl time" with Colleen and Dee. We'll visit Archivers again because Colleen wasn't with us when we went last year... and it's kind of a must for a scrapbooker. The only other concrete plans I know of are a nice dinner at Maggiano's on Friday night with Jan. Such a lovely woman. I'm looking forward to spending some time with her and getting to know her better.
I get back from Chicago on the 20th and will sit put until my vacation the week of August 10th. Nothing big planned for that week. Hope to relax at home. We will be puppy-sitting for Bailey... the cutest little miniature Dachshund puppy ever. He is a spitfire! He has no idea how tiny he is. He's a Great Dane in a tiny little 6 month old Dachshund body, and he's got the attitude to back it up. So cute!
So, until then...
"How much does a ticket cost at your usual movie theater? Does the price affect the number of movies you see at the theater?"
Submitted by Kristie.
I went to the movies last month to see Sex and the City. Tickets were $10.25 each, and the consession stand got almost as much. Minimum of $20 to go to the movies... minimum. Surprised me a little since I don't go that often. That's not because of the ticket prices, it's because it's so hard to get our schedules to mesh enough to find the time to go at all.
That being said, the girls and I are more than willing to pay the extra moulah to sit back and be waited on in the Lux theater... though it's been sold out every time we've tried for tickets, so it remains an elusive desire for Denise, Kelly and me.
Show us the very last picture you took. No cheating!
I went to Tower Hill Botanic Garden last weekend and I took this on the way out. The rest of the pictures can be seen here on flickr.
Cover of a trade magazine that epitomizes Crush-Monkey to me...
Granted... I cannot read, write or speak any form of Asian language, so I have no idea what the text at the top says. Here's hoping it's the same as the English text below it!
the new iPhone 3G will soon have a new home in the house of KEG. Mark my words VOX!
but I didn't know it would be here so fast. The first heatwave of 2008.
HHH... It's heard a lot here in New England in the summer... Hazy Hot and Humid. And it looks like we're in for a couple more days of this stuff before we get some relief.
It wouldn't be so bad if the ocean water were a bit warmer. It's still in the 50's and that's just not happening for me. Don't get me wrong... I'm no beach bum, but a nice walk in the water on a hot day is really nice... but not when it's only in the 50's! Maybe by July...
I know, I know... but they used it in the movie. See... it's right there on the poster...so it's okay... really!
Yes... Denise and Kelly and I went to see Sex and the City on the big screen Saturday night. Oh fun was had by all in the sold out 7:00pm show.
We arrived only 10 minutes early and the best seats we could get were in the very last row at the top... actually where we'd prefer to be. Kelly and I made the mad dash for snacks while Denise staved off the vultures honing in on our empty looking seats. We made our way back to our seats in the dark as Carrie Bradshaw's voice began the voiceover. We completely missed any previews and a little of the beginning of the movie, but it's all good.
It was a great movie for anyone who is (or was) a fan of the HBO series. Clothing was AMAZING... just as I expected. Some seriously funny moments... won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet... just hurry up and go see it so we can chat!
